Books and Stories.

Amy has been working on a children’s book based on a painting that so many people have connected with at the booth. The painting came from a story she created for her daughter when she was five, and over the years, she has been slowly turning that story into a book. It will include full watercolour paintings along with ink illustrations.

Home
A novel in progress

Home follows a character who begins to recognize the patterns guiding her life and what changes when she doesn’t follow them.

The Astra Fields
Complete.

Amy has been writing fiction and nonfiction for most of her life. Her work is shaped by her mixed Polish and Cree-Métis heritage, her experience with invisible disability and chronic pain, and years of studying how stories work across every medium: film, visual art, fine craft, photography, and television. Her writing is also shaped by the thousands of stories she hears at the booth. It shares the same restrained voice and precise attention that runs through all of her work.

She has submitted short fiction and nonfiction to national competitions, including the CBC Literary Prizes, using deadlines to finish and share her work. She has completed two literary fiction novels and is currently seeking representation. A watercolour-illustrated children's book is also in development.

Her work is for people who already know there is no 100% getting better. People who are tired of fiction that promises healing as the final outcome. She writes for those who need to know that livable is enough, and that someone else understands what it costs to get there. Her fiction is written under the name A.L. Skrocki. Amy is currently seeking representation for her debut literary novel HOME.

Colouring & Activity Books

Originally created for her daughter and shared at the booth, these gratitude and activity books were later developed into a small collection for both children and adults.
